About Us
Pennine Academies Yorkshire was formed in 2018 by like minded values driven individuals who wanted to make a significant difference to the quality of education and outcomes for children in the North of England, Being values driven means that the qualities of openness, transparency and being ethically minded are central to everything that we do.
We consider every school that is part of the Trust a family member. Our values are centred around the diversity of our schools and how this strength can help all of us to grow together to provide the best possible outcomes for pupils, ensuring that every child makes exceptional progress in their academic and social development. We work in collaboration, supporting one another and sharing best practice whilst respecting each schools' autonomous rights. This is not a one size fits all multi academy trust and we carefully discuss and decide what elements of our work are the responsibility of the central team and what are school based. We work together closely supporting one another and sharing resources based on need at the time. For this reason we choose to pool our general annual grants to make sure we are meeting all needs. This is done openly and each school has full access to the others accounts and expenditure. Through this method we have built trust between the schools that funds are distributed and spent in an equitable manner dependent on need.
We have a particular care for our pupils who have additional needs. All schools in the family are wedded to the principles of inclusion. It therefore stands to reason we should make the maximum effort to make pupils with additional needs even more welcome, remove barriers and ensure their future success. We believe that this should happen alongside their peers in mainstream education. For this reason to date we have not permanently excluded a pupil and we rarely use fixed term suspensions.
